Media Preliminary - Cover

The colour scheme is orange and black, which denote Halloween. The Autumn edition will focus on Halloween. The main article is written in white to stand out on the black background and appear more eye-catching. The text has a shadow, which enables it to stand out even more. The font in which ''Halloween'' is written in reinforces the spooky feel of Halloween and stands out even more. The image shows people at a Halloween party. This gives people an example of people's Halloween plans, supporting the article. The rotation of the image makes it seem more like a photograph which has been placed down. I feel this adds naturalism to the cover. The colours red and silver stand out on the black background and contrast with the orange, thus standing out even more. Together I find these effects as a whole to be very successful.
The secondary article shows a student playing table tennis. This shows activities that go on within college. Table tennis being a sport this college typically does well in nationally, as well as it being an enrichment activity. The image enables the reader to recognise him and make then know that he is who the article is about.
The other mentioned articles (Sports, Trips and Money saving) are summarised in one word to invoke more interest in the articles. "Sport" could relate to any of the college's teams and as a result would appeal to everybody who is a fan of the sports this college teaches. As is the situation with "Trips". The article "Money Saving" is different because people do not need any more information on what the article is about. This appeals to the students because everybody likes to have money regardless of age, and students are no different.

This cover design remained the same throughout drafts and the developing process. I have leant how to create a basic background and rotate images. I also found that the font can vary in colour despite using the same text box.
