In order to create a successful College magazine cover I must find out what students would like to see within the magazine content. To do this I researched my target audience. I asked some questions to students around the College about which articles they would like o see and what was important to them around this time. I received the most comments about Halloween, and so created my cover around that. I gave this edition a Halloween theme and a main article about what people would be doing this Halloween.
Students said they would also like to hear about College sports and trips, and so I also added this. Sports received a better reaction to trips so I placed a sport-based article on the front page. Students also said they were interested in saving money. Since saving money appeals to a very wide audience it was immediately placed on the front page too.
I also found that many students enjoy making light-hearted fun of each other and so I also placed an article where people could see embarrasing pictures of others taken around College, at parties or just going out. This along with Sport and Trips was placed in the 'Regular' section since the majority agreed that it would be a very entertaining article that would appeal to most of the students.
To summarise, I asked students what they would like to see in a College magazine, and based on the amount of results received per answer and whether they would entertain and inform the readers enough they would be used as regular articles. These turned out to be information on sports, trips and embarrasing pictures. Based on people's opinions on what they would like to see in a college magazine that would benefit and inform them I used as new articles, which resulted in saving money, Halloween and an article focused on a specific student.
