"I'm a fan of bands such as Paramore and Shinedown. I prefer heavy metal to other forms of rock. In magazines I like articles that give the reader information about the band members' personal lives - stuff like what they do in their free time, any other talents they have, what they do and don't enjoy etc. I also like to hear about new bands that people don't know about. I really enjoy saying "I knew about them before they were famous". It makes me feel special."
"You can't go wrong with Enter Shikari. They're so unique and awesome. In magazines I'd like to know about personal lives. I'm one of those people who enjoys saying "I enjoy this, and so does this celebrity". I get tired of reading "Oh, my god! Listen to this album! Their music is so great! They are surely going to change the face of music with this new album!" it gets so tedious, repetitive and kind of pathetic if it isn't genuine and is generic and boring. New bands would be cool to know about too. Sure Muse and Metallica are fine, but after a while you just want something refreshing and new. It's nice to find out about a band when they're fresh and watch their music and themselves evolve over time."
"Hard rock is the best without a doubt. There's no such place as the "Heavy Metal bistro", is there, but there's a "Hard Rock cafe". A style of music so awesome you can eat at it. I like cover bands personally. You know you're a great band when you can cover a great song and make it sound equally as awesome, if not better. I'm also a fan of pictures in magazines, mainly because I'm not a fan of reading loads and loads of information I don't care about."
These paragraphs allow me to understand my target audience more. Based on these articles I can decide that my magazine will focus on numerous sub-genres of Rock music and will focus on newer bands, including their personal lives and interests. These seem to be what the majority would like to see.
